The Alaska Center for the Performing Arts (PAC) is home to a rather unique resident company, the Alaska Youth Orchestras (AYO). Composed of three unique orchestras, students from kindergarten through college dazzle audiences every year with their musical talents – and have been since 1963.

Students from across Alaska travel to rehearse and perform with the orchestras, and the orchestras perform in more than just Alaska. AYO has traveled not only to the Lower 48, but the world as well!

As a partnership with the Anchorage School District, AYO believes that without great music, education is not complete. AYO encourages and supports music programs in schools in the belief that great music played well instills discipline and the joy of great musical ideas.
