Resident Company Highlight - Anchorage Opera

Anchorage Opera

The Anchorage Opera (AO), which mounted its first production in 1962, is truly a “Made in Alaska” organization. Founded by Marita Farrell, an opera singer, and Evangeline Atwood, a philanthropist whose name graces one of the PAC lobbies, AO has always been a labor of Alaskan love.

AO produces its own handcrafted sets, costumes, furniture, and lighting designs out of its workshop in Anchorage. While the opera brings in talent from all over the world, it also highlights local talent in each production. In addition, the company offers mentorship programs for young Alaskans aspiring to professional careers in the performing arts.

You can learn more about Anchorage Opera on Facebook, Instagram, and their website.
