Celebrating its 80th season, the Anchorage Symphony Orchestra is our oldest resident company. From its start as a small community orchestra, to the powerhouse it is today, they bring stunning quality music to our stages. The ASO has been a steady companion through decades of celebration and solace, sharing music with hundreds of thousands of people, including generations of young listeners. In fact, the Orchestra was the very first recipient of the Mayor’s Arts Award for Outstanding Arts Organizations, recognizing its role as a cultural leader in Anchorage.
While full orchestral masterworks concerts remain the heart of its season, ASO continues to push artistic boundaries, blending genres, honoring diverse musical traditions, and introducing audiences to new voices through its long-running Musica Nova commissioning program. Pops concerts, multimedia collaborations, and even silver screen performances have become hallmarks of its adventurous spirit.
Guided by Music Director Elizabeth Schulze, now entering her fifth season, the Anchorage Symphony Orchestra continues to live its vision: to provide Great Music for Every Life.
