h2.Typography

Good typography is the foundation of good design. The Alaska Center for the Performing Arts' font paring consists of Bigola Display, Open Sans, and Antarctican Mono. These typefaces combine to form a pairing of typography founded in the timeless attention to legibility and balanced white space, while conveying a modern and clean aesthetic.

h5. Heading Font – Bigola Display

h1. A modern vintage serif font packaged in a modern and classy style.

h3. Designed by Mulkan Nazir, Bigola Display is a unique, playful and versatile serif family with 14 ligatures and 170 alternates to beautify the design you like, with a large selection of alternate letters and ligatures, the choice of letters you like from variations of uppercase and lowercase letters to get a display luxurious and elegant.

Body Font – Open Sans

Open Sans is a humanist sans serif typeface designed by Steve Matteson, Type Director of Ascender Corp. This version contains the complete 897 character set, which includes the standard ISO Latin 1, Latin CE, Greek and Cyrillic character sets. Open Sans was designed with an upright stress, open forms and a neutral, yet friendly appearance. It was optimized for print, web, and mobile interfaces, and has excellent legibility characteristics in its letterforms.

Monospaced Font – Antarctican Mono

h4. Antarctican mono was designed for text on Retina displays and in print. It is an unembellished work horse that both invokes and challenges convention. Asymmetric contrast is paired with deep notches to aid legibility. Orthogonal stroke terminals lead the eye down and across. Monospaced glyphs reject the orthodoxy of evenness. A large x-height boosts the volume of the lowercase, aiding readability at small sizes, and demanding attention in display settings. Antarctican Headline is a matching family of condensed fonts. The headline fonts are proportionally spaced to allow for heavier weights than can be drawn in monospaced typefaces.
